Changes are happening at the studio! A year has passed and we now have a better knowledge as to how we can meet the needs of the community and still enjoy our semi-retirement. We have given this a lot of thought and believe we have come up with a solution that will enable us to do both. The Kids Art Club and the Adult Classes are what is most important to us. This is where we will focus our efforts and attention. The biggest change will be the open hours for the studio. Starting April 5th the hours will be as follows:
Sunday & Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 2:00 – 5:00
Wednesday: 1:00 – 8:00
Thursday: 2:00 – 5:00
Friday: 2:00 – 5:00
Saturday: 10:00 – 4:00
These hours are in effect until the end of June. In July and August the hours will be 10:00 – 4:00. We will be open five days a week, but have not finalized which days we will be open.
We had a successful Kickstarter Campaign! Thank you to all who supported the program. The equipment arrives today, March 29th! The Pottery Classes this month are exclusive to the Kickstarter Reward Program. If your reward was a pottery class you will be contacted within the next week to set it up. We are starting with the Kids Pottery on April 9th. That gives us just over a week to get the studio set up and running. We are so excited to get this program going. We will have 4 pottery wheels, a slab roller, and the tools you need to work at the wheel or to do handbuilding. Once you have taken a beginner pottery class, you can come in and pay for wheel rental, glazing and firing.
Something new this month is Japanese Flower Arranging! Rose Cheetham will be instructing this class. When she lived in Japan she learned the art of Japanese Flower Arrangement. This is a three week class and we are pleased to be offering it here at the Art Studio 138.
We are off to Saskatchewan on April 29 and will be closed until May 17. We are working on keeping the Kids Art classes going and the studio open for part of that time. We will keep you posted on how that is going to work out.
