February was a busy month at the studio. The Kickstarter Campaign was launched at the end of January. We have about 70 hours left to go until the deadline and I am sure it will be a success! Thank you to all the backers! You have pledged 4200.00 to purchase new studio equipment for the pottery studio
. We will purchase 2 more pottery wheels, a slab roller, glazing supplies and a lot of clay. If we go over our goal, we are going to try to get a third pottery wheel. From date of order, it can take up to 4 weeks for the pottery equipment to arrive. We hope to have the pottery program set up for April.
And speaking of pottery, we were so fortunate to have Melissa Strachan here as an artist in residence for 16 days in February. Melissa taught pottery classes for both adults and children. She is a terrific teacher and she certainly inspired creativity in all her students, along with teaching them the basic skills needed to be a successful potter. Melissa will be coming back to teach more classes, so keep you eye on the Facebook Page to know when she will be back. Another big thank you goes out to all the people who came in to meet Melissa and welcome her to Shelburne.
March is our one year anniversary! We opened on March 16, 2015. A year has just flown by. It has been a busy year, and when Murray and I reflect on all that has evolved over the last year, we are amazed and grateful at the same time. What a year it has been. This seems to be a blog about saying thank you. Thanks goes out to all our friends here, who have been so supportive of our venture, and so encouraging to us when we needed it. Thanks goes out to all who have been faithful supports of W.O.W., now A.R.T. The support for this program has been amazing. A huge thank you goes out to all the parents who have enrolled their children in the Kids Art Club programs. What a great experience that has been. Watching how the kids have developed their art skills over the last year has been very rewarding. I love to see the kids concentrating on creating. Thank you goes out to all who come for coffee, to chat, to create in the studio. We are well on our way of making Art Studio 138 a creative hub for the community of Shelburne.
Pay it Forward in the name of Carmen Faith Huskilson. Art Studio 138 will be doing a Pay It Forward each month in the Kids Art Club. This month we are recognizing the students that that come to the Kids Club on a regular basis. All their names have been entered in a draw and the winner was Emily. Emily will receive her March Kids Club Session free of charge. Congratulations Emily! For the month of April, I am asking for you to submit names of children you think would benefit from a Kids Art Club Opportunity. You can message the names to the Studio FB page and they will be entered in a draw and there will be one lucky winner. The Pay It Forward will alternate between these two art opportunities on a regular basis.
Look forward to some new ideas and happenings at Art Studio 138. Watch for information about the Moosehead Momentum Project and ARTicle 138.
Wishing you a creative month,
Cindy & Murray
